Imagine a whole school playing violins and cellos! At Gallions School in Newham, East London that’s just what they’re doing – all 240 children and every teacher at this primary school learn to play, using  Stentor stringed instruments.

This Friday, at the London International Music Show at ExCeL, Stentor will present £1000 worth of Stentor violins to Gallions School when they perform their own piece with the school choir and string ensemble. This support from Stentor will enable even more music making in the school, as students currently share instruments due to the large number of children playing. “This is fantastic news,” said Paul Jackson, head teacher at Gallions.

At Gallions, the whole curriculum is taught through the creative arts and every child, from Year 1 (age 5) upwards, learns to play the violin or cello in small groups every week. It engagesthe children’s interest, encourages creativity, thinking skills, co-operative working and positive behaviour.
