Mark Bass’s new modular bass amp system is one of the most ingenious things we’ve seen at LIMS so far. The MoMark allows bassists to choose separate preamp, EQ and master sections and plug them straight into a power amp chassis – as simply as you’d plug a USB memory stick into a computer.
More aftershow parties; yet more star musicians playing at them. This time it’s Albert Lee, who treated guests at the Strings And Things/MusicMan ‘Knucklehead Bash’ to some of his incredible country-blues chops.
While the mother of all metronome videos was caught at NAMM 09 with the birth of ‘Metronomica’, Sonic Ventures brings its own take on beat-keeping to LIMS 09.
What did we tell you! It’s the weekend, and the rockstars have arrived. While Roland’s Juno-Di synth and Peavey’s Revalver III update continue to fly the flag in the new gear corner, Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan and The Commitments are leading day three’s highlights with style.
Peavey’s ReValver amp modelling software has been around for a while now, but LIMS 2009 marks the first time the product (now at Mk III) has featured full RTAS support.
You might remember 1991’s film adaptation of Roddy Doyle’s novel of the same name: The Commitments. In a nutshell, it’s about a soul band. That same group took to the stage at Peavey’s party on Thursday night… and MusicRadar snuck in a video camera.
A short little clip of Guthrie Govan playing a track from his album on the MusicRadar/Guitar Techniques/Total Guitar/Guitarist stand.
Today is set to be the busiest day of LIMS 2009. Not only is it the day with the most public attendance (the ExCel Centre is heaving), but it’s the day the stars come out to play. And at the top of the bill is Steve Vai – who’s about to unleash his Alien Guitar Secrets show/workshop/zen-guitar-extravaganza on the not-so-unsuspecting public.
If these walls could talk… they’d be bloody loud!
Anyone braving the London Underground, its perilous ‘engineering works’ and the adjoining Docklands Light Railway (DLR) today (Saturday 13 June) to get to day three of LIMS 2009 already deserves a medal.

It’s day two of LIMS 09, the rock stars are out in force and the show floor highlights are coming in thick and fast…
One of the great things about a show like LIMS is that you don’t just get to look at products on display – you can see how people actually use them when they’re making music.
We’re noticing more and more custom-painted graphic guitars re-emerging from some of the big name brands.
One of the wonderful things about LIMS is the abundance of rockstar-royalty roaming the show floor. Among the various MusicRadar reporters, promo girls and demo teams, here are some of the famous faces we’ve spotted so far…
Check out the Space Trainer, a low-cost, blissfully simple tuition aid for beginner guitarists.
While MusicRadar triple checks the batteries (laptop, camera, portable trouser press, etc) are fully charged and ready to go – here’s a sneak peek of the half-built show floor. Let’s call it ‘organised chaos’…
